A quantum computer with over 5,000 qubits based on the principle of quantum annealing has been put into operation at Germany’s Forschungszentrum Jülich, one of the largest interdisciplinary research centers in Europe. This is the first system of its kind outside North America. It was created by the Jülich Supercomputing Center (JSC) and D-Wave Systems. The new system, which has been installed in Jülich and will work closely with the JSC supercomputers, will be available to researchers across Europe.

5000 qbitin tietokone otetaan käyttöön Saksassa. Jostain olen lukenut, että miljoona qbittia on se raja, jonka jälkeen kvanttitietokoneet pystyvät tekemään laajalti sellaisia asioita, joihin eivät perinteiset tietokoneet pysty. Eli jos qbittien määrä saadaan tuplattua kerran vuodessa niin 2030 kvanttitietokoneet olisivat laajasti käyttökelpoisia.
